Theo Sieben is an artist that makes a combination of Blues, Americana and Folk. This year he releases the album “Delphinidin”.

With a genre description like this you may not really expect there to be a story of Dimebag Darrel to be found at this album, yet it is the case as Theo wrote a song about his murder. Many of our readers are much into Metal, so although it may be a bit odd, it certainly draws our interest. Of course Pantera is a band that has their influence and remains relevant up to day when another Pantera member, Phil Anselmo, got caught making racist comments on stage with his current band. There is plenty to tell about this band.

But being back to Theo Sieben, the song is a calm and in a story telling mode which is at most of the songs. One with a bit more softer tone than the other he creates a base of songs you just listen to, like a book being read to you. A collection of stories, because it is not that all songs are related although there are some similarities to be found. Sometimes the instrumental backing is quite minimum while in our imagination the song could benefit from just a bit more to set atmosphere deeper and let these stories come closer to you.

The album is a pleasant one to spend some time with, it is kept small with a certain intimacy that you would think Theo is right in your living room. Here and there it could have been brought with a bit more bravura though, the music does deserve it. Just to reach out a little more and feel it.
