Nidhöggr – Turn To Ash

Nidhöggr is a Swedish Black Metal band. The guys formed a few years ago and now got to the release of a first demo. It’s called “Turn To Ash” and is out now.

Nidhöggr is giving us quite classic Black Metal, straightforward and not without too much things around it. The tempo is up quite well and with an icey cold atmosphere it is not hard to get into it. Lyrically the inspiration comes from the Norse mythology and the sounds surrounding it are contributing to it well.
If you expect to find something inventive, than this is not your release, but what you may want is that stereotypical sound from the 90’s performed anno 2015. A production that is never too polished but obviously gotten some attention to benefit the whole atmosphere and that is not given for each band releasing a demo in this genre. That is what makes the guys stand out above others.

Nidhöggr comes across as a band with a clear vision of what they want to sound like, this demo is giving them a strong start and perhaps this helps them in a way to get their name out. We are on the lookout.
