Pagan Black Metal band Kampfar is already around since 1994. They have been rather active through these years and are currently releasing album number seven called “Profan”.

Kampfar is one of those bands that are quite steady in their releases. You pretty much always can predict that their album will be a strong one in reign of the rest that they have done. With “Profan” that is not really much different. Their own Kampfar sound is still in there and they have not made much radical changes to this release. It is varied, from deep Black metal songs to a bit more Pagan part where also cleaner vocals come around and warm you up after the cold atmospheres the band likes to bring. When the band plays around with their tempo’s they easily keep the listener with them. The drama is well included and highlights any atmosphere the band is giving it.

You may say that Kampfar is not really breaking away from what they are doing all the time, but when you look at an album self you will find a whole lot of variation. The band is refining themselves a bit each time they come with a new album and “Profan” is not different from that. An excellent release that the fans can buy blindly. Black Metalfans that have not heard them before are sure up for a quality release as well.
