Former Misfits singer Glenn Danzig needs no explanation. He decided he wanted to do an album with covers and it is called “Skeletons”.

In an album of covers by Danzig you may have some expectations. It is safe to say that the choices made on this release are sometimes a bit surprising but a surprise that falls out positively. Glenn himself tells that these are the backbone of his musical preferences. The diversity is there, you go from Elvis Presley’s “Let Yourself Go” to Aerosmith’s “Lords of Thighs” with only having Black Sabbath’s “N.I.B” in between. Of course some known names, but not the most covered songs out of their discography and therefore very surprising to hear these.
Most remarkable cover to be found is actually the closer of this release. “Crying In The Rain” by The Everly Brothers it is and is by sure the song that leaves the most impression. Danzig gives it just that little extra darkness, that edge that empowers the whole song and gives that atmosphere so much more. Definitely the highlight of the album.

“Skeletons” is a release that has some remarkable choices, but are the personal choices by Glenn Danzig to cover. They are brought in his stereotypical way that all fans will recognize. But if you could look at it differently, these songs are having some legendary potential. Hearing them in the club earlier this month makes realize the weight of them is more than you would think at first. A great release!
