Sofy Major is a band from France making Noise Rock. The band is currently releasing their third full length album called: “Waste”.
The album has a bit of a remarkable start with the potential to be quite hysterical but it turns out to be more calm than expected. The vocals brought with full energy but the music blended with melody to lighten up the atmosphere. A severely present bass is creating a bit of strange balance in the sound. From the almost mechanic sound towards a more smooth sound. These guys drag you back and forth. Are you getting further in the tracklist the structure of their songs seem to make a bit more sense, you find yourself comfortable listen to them while picking up the details and thinking about how this band would sound live. Luckily the band gives plenty opportunity for that as the guys come on European tour in October together with their labelmates of Pig.
“Waste”is a release that is more straightforward than you initially would think. The band likes to stay away from being too much of a cliché and pigheadedly do as they please. An attitude that works in this case but could be a dangerous gamble. Rough and yet surprising.
